Another excellent Edublogs.org blog

Week 4 and we’ve been busy. The students have been participating in a writing task set on our wikispace: Class17. We began with a single line to a story and students have added their bit. What we’ll do with this is a proofreading and editing session on the smartboard utilising smartboard tools. After that I’m going to move on to another writing genre eg exposition/ argument: and I’ll ask them to add their opinions to an issue or statement related to our unit of work for this term: Work Ed/ How does it work?

Our class blog is growing with a couple of posts added by students: one about the LaN being over and the other a review of a student’s Powerpoint on a career of his choice. He also linked the Powerpoint to the blog post which was terrific..

I’ve also copied one of Jamie McKenzie’s Slam Dunks : Pharmacuticals for the class to do in line with their work in “How does the body work?” unit for this term. Should be interesting to see how well they do.

All in all, busy beavers all of us. More students have created their own blogs and are very enthusiastic and creative.

We move on , Learning Stuff.

This week I have been supporting students with the procress of creating their own blogs.

A couple have had a hiccup or two but we’ve managed to sort it all out.

I also showed my class how to do some social bookmarking and sharing of good we sites related to their learning. They’ve bookmarked on to their internet pages as this is the safest area to do so and their favourites can be found easier.

I’ve also shown the class some of the digital safety stuff and explained how this fits with a visit we had in 1st term from the Netalert Police team. We discussed who is on the other end of the internet connection and how much you should divulge on line etc. Because we’d already had the visit and viewed some other materials this follow up was as a reminder and created further discussion about safety.

Still updating my Pageflakes and have explored my wiki space: wikistuff which is linked to my edublog.

Phew… all that and the LAN as well….This learning stuff is great!!!!!!!!!

Phew, we’ve hasd a busy one…. more students are creating their own blogs and exploring all of the widgets etc that they can add. If they come up with anything new, they rush to tell me and we all share….. good stuff.

I’ve created a pageflake and like the look of that too.

Tried to get on and do a edcap survey but there seems to be a problem there… will have to wait until Thursday to ask about that one.

All good so far!!!!

Friday, 27th, July, Room 17 are going to create their own blog. We are using the smartboard so everyone can see and we’ll be taking photos for our digital storytelling.

Well we did it!!!!!! We created our class blog… http://room17.edublogs.org  The students managed to follow my instructions and more amazingly, I remembered it all. While we were working on the smartboard, Wade took photos and later he and Bill created a digital story of our learning. They went step by step… most of the students had used Photo Shop 3 but the few who didn’t learnt how to do it quickly.

We’ve had some comments from other classes and students have shared their blog at home. All in all , it was a great learning experience for them and I had a ball!!!!! Great Learning Stuff.

Workshop 1… we’re here! It’s been very interesting so far and I’m Learning Stuff. We couldn’t use Twitter because it’s blocked but that’s OK I’m sure I’ll find something else to add.
